Contorno
Renata Fabbri is delighted to inaugurate the new exhibition season with Contorno, the second solo show by Serena Vestrucci at the gallery. The exhibition features a wide range of new works created with different materials and techniques, ranging from ceramics to bronze, from drawing to collage.
As often happens in her research, Vestrucci delves into the nooks and crannies of everyday life, drawing from everything that is secondary, negligible, and seemingly irrelevant. Through ever-changing manual and conceptual approaches, her work challenges conventions and subverts the established order, revealing the extraordinary in the everyday, and the unexpected in the routine.
In this second solo show, Vestrucci explores the complexity of human relationships, treating them as intricate weavings of time experiences, affections and wounds, of declarations and words unsaid – elements that have the ability to both unite and distance people. The entire exhibition project revolves around food and the image of the kitchen – a quintessential place of sharing and gathering – which the artist reinterprets with sharp irony, giving voice to themes of intolerance, separation, disguise, and identity.
The works on display illustrate the difficulty of being oneself while disregarding others’ expectations. Confronting the fear of judgment, therefore, involves facing the fear of loss and the possibility of not being loved for who we truly are.
Contorno is an investigation into the meaning of love and its multiple facets.
Contorno is an invitation to reflect on our lives, considering those subtle margins that outline and define our relationships.
Contorno is the side dish that accompanies the main course, enriching its essence and making it complete.
