Jimmy Milani
Biography
Jimmy Milani (Savigliano, 1995) lives and works between San Miniato (PI) and Milan. His paintings are informed by a conflict between rationality and intuition. While on one hand the artist feels the need to follow a rigorous planning hypothesis, on the other we find an equal and opposite impulse to embrace change and the unexpected. Milani’s research is marked by a critical comparison with the pictorial tradition and a passion for composition. Subjects and narratives merge on defined surfaces, where curves, angles and contours are outlined and sampled without nuance. Painting, images, and colors are the result of a controlled distortion of thought, figuration, and reality.
Milani graduated with an MFA in Visual Arts address Painting at the Academy of fine arts Brera, Milan (2017\2019) and a BFA in Painting at the Academy of fine arts Brera, Milan (2014\2017).
His works have been exhibited in many solo and group exhibitions among: Esco da qui, Studiolo, Milan (2022); Primary Domain, Ordet, Milan (2021); NOI X SEMPRE, Studiolo, Milan (2021); Salon Palermo, Rizzuto Gallery, Palermo (2021); ENTR~ACTE, Renata Fabbri, Milan (2021); Degree show, Palazzo Monti, Brescia (2020); luna piena, Residenza la fornace, Milan (2020); Simposio di pittura, Fondazione Lac o le Mon, San Cesario, Lecce (2019); The Wall Project No. 9, Angelo della pergola 1, Milan (2020); In the spirit of being with, Cripta747, Turin (2020); “Passion for the Path of Art” Cardi gallery, Milano (2019); NOI X SEMPRE, Yellow, Varese (2019); Amaretto, Villa Vertua masolo, Nova Milanese (2019); Incontro #14-The Call to Adventure, Fondazione Pini, Milan (2018).
